Therapy Focused On Attachment

As an effective adjunct to play therapy, Carol Corcoran, LCMFT, LMFT utilizes a therapeutic approach focused on attachment, which serves to create a reconnection between the parent and child who may have lost that connection for various reasons. During this process, I invite the parent into the session to help the child begin the process of reattaching to the parent using therapy based on attachment theory. As the bond between parent and child grows, each becomes more connected and heard by the other, and many times presenting symptoms are reduced if not eliminated. This is also incorporated with play therapy.

What does a parent do when even after several diagnosis for their child, behavioral modification treatments and multiple medications, the struggles between you and your child continues to persist? What if it is about the relationship between the child and the parent and or the parent with the child? Many of those symptoms are brought about by fears, sadness and hurt, for both you, which can result in the two of you becoming disconnected with one another.

Healing connections for a child with their caregiver can be truly transformative and can help move the relationship to places of comfort and deep bonding. Sleep problems, anxiety and fears as well as symptoms of depression can be drastically reduced when a young one feels safe and attached to their caregiver. Carol Corcoran, LCMFT, LMFT works with the caregiver and child to strengthen their bond and create those moments of magic. Based on the work of John Bowlby and research of Robert Karen PhD. Carol implements bonding and attachment moments to heal the relationship.

As a parent we many not have received the attention and love we needed from our parents which can create challenges in the way we parent our child. Our own attachment needs may not have been met so we may be at a loss of how to give our child what we never received. Let me help you be there for your little one in ways that incorporates a felt sense of attachment.
