For a number of reasons; it means that they are held to a higher standard and are required to adhere to legal and ethical standards, and that the therapist or counselor is required to have met continuing educational requirements yearly, which means they stay up on the latest and most effective treatments. Your mental/emotional health is too valuable to take lightly. Please help yourself and those you care about, make your emotional well-being a deeply held priority.
